At Olive (“we”, “us”, or “our”), your privacy and trust are sacred. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you interact with the Olive app and its services.

1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
a. Account Information
- Name (first name or preferred identifier)
- Email address (required for account creation)
- Role selection (e.g., Father or Child)
b. Reflections & Journal Data
- Text or audio entries you choose to create in the Vault or Whisper tools
- Emotional tags, tones, or metadata linked to your reflections
c. Technical Information
- IP address, device type, OS version
- App usage statistics (for debugging and analytics)
d. Payment Information
- When applicable, your email will be shared with Stripe to generate a customer ID for billing
- No credit card details are stored on Olive servers
e. AI Processing
- Data from reflections may be processed using OpenAI to generate compassionate responses
- Voice and text inputs may be analyzed for tone tagging or emotional support, strictly within Olive's platform logic
2. How We Use Your Information
- To personalize your experience (e.g., greeting you by name)
- To deliver AI-generated support through your Companion
- To store and retrieve your entries securely
- To facilitate account services and manage subscriptions (via Supabase and Stripe)
- To protect the platform from abuse or fraud
- To offer real human support if signs of emotional crisis are detected (see: Emergency Lifelines)
3. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We only share necessary data with:
- Supabase (account authentication, database storage)
- Stripe (payment processing and subscription setup)
- OpenAI (emotionally intelligent AI responses)
- Make.com (automated workflow processing, if applicable)
Each of these services complies with its own privacy and security standards.
4. Data Security
We use industry-standard encryption and access controls to protect your information. Vault entries, whispers, and other private content are stored securely and accessible only to your authenticated account.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as you maintain an active account or as necessary for legal compliance. You can request to delete your account and all associated data at any time.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access your data
- Correct inaccuracies
- Request deletion
- Withdraw consent to data processing

7. Children's Privacy
Olive is designed with father-child connections in mind. For users under 18, Olive requires parent/guardian setup, and the Trusted Guardian Code ensures safety controls are in place.
